Instead of using RS-485, the EDR can be connected to the EIM with an ethernet cable.

If an ethernet switch is not present: Use a crossover ethernet cable between the EDR and EIM

If an ethernet switch is present: Use 2 normal ethernet cables from the switch to each the EDR and EIM

EIM Setup

  1. Go to system/Global settings -> Ethernet
  2. Change the type on top to 'Manual'
  3. Set the IP address to 172.16.1.5
  4. Set the gateway to 172.16.1.6
  5. Set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0

Note: After changing ethernet settings, wait a couple minutes and cycle power on the EIM

EDR Setup

  1. Connect to the EDR Wifi Console (Instructions)
  2. Navigate to the Modbus Slave tab
  3. Under network configuration, set IP address to 172.16.1.6
  4. Leave port at 502
  5. Set net mask to 255.255.255.0
  6. Set gateway to 172.16.1.5
  7. Select 'save'

Next navigate to the 'modbus master' screen

  1. Open network configuration
  2. Uncheck 'use serial'
  3. Check 'use IP'
  4. Set the IP Address to 172.16.1.5
  5. Select Save

Open the modbus master table, and there should now be data showing up.
