Instead of using RS-485, the EDR can be connected to the EIM with an ethernet cable.
If an ethernet switch is not present: Use a crossover ethernet cable between the EDR and EIM
If an ethernet switch is present: Use 2 normal ethernet cables from the switch to each the EDR and EIM
EIM Setup
- Go to system/Global settings -> Ethernet
- Change the type on top to 'Manual'
- Set the IP address to 172.16.1.5
- Set the gateway to 172.16.1.6
- Set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0
Note: After changing ethernet settings, wait a couple minutes and cycle power on the EIM
EDR Setup
- Connect to the EDR Wifi Console (Instructions)
- Navigate to the Modbus Slave tab
- Under network configuration, set IP address to 172.16.1.6
- Leave port at 502
- Set net mask to 255.255.255.0
- Set gateway to 172.16.1.5
- Select 'save'
Next navigate to the 'modbus master' screen
- Open network configuration
- Uncheck 'use serial'
- Check 'use IP'
- Set the IP Address to 172.16.1.5
- Select Save
Open the modbus master table, and there should now be data showing up.
