DCT System Settings or Utilities
The DCT can have its software updated using a USB drive. To update the software, follow these steps.

* Obtain a software update from this location by selecting the latest "DCT_update..." file. Software Updates
DCT Information Pages
* Download the file
* Insert a USB drive into the computer
* Drag the file from the 'Downloads' folder into the USB drive
* Eject the drive, then insert into back of screen
* Enter the engineering password on the screen
* Navigate to "Settings" -> "System Settings" -> "Software Update"\

* Select 'Start Update'
DCT Software Update
* After about 20 seconds the update should be complete and the screen will restart

Note: After update, the engineering password will change. Add the difference in version to the old engineering password. E.g. if updating from 1.12 to 1.18, add '6' to the old engineering password.

Troubleshooting
DCT USB Format Tool
If the DCT fails to update, try these troubleshooting steps.

* Download the file again and verify that the size of the file is similar to what is reported on the software update website
DCT Datalogs
* Make sure the file is in the root directory of the USB drive (not in some sub folder)
* The drive may need to be reformatted. This can be done on the screen itself under "Settings" -> "System / Global Settings" -> "Format USB drive". THIS WILL DELETE ALL FILES ON THE DISK. Afterwards, the file can be recopied onto the drive and the update attempted again.

USB Format Tool
DCT Engine Timers
The DCT has a USB format tool that can be used to re-format and partition a USB drive. This will help make a drive compatible with all parts of the EMIT system.

Warning: Formatting a drive will erase all files previously on the drive

# Navigate to 'Settings' -> 'System / Global Settings' -> 'Format USB Drive'
# Put a USB drive in the back of the touchscreen
# Select 'Start Format'
# When complete, remove USB driveAfter formatting, the USB will be blank and can be used for downloading datalogs, configurations, uploading software updates, etc.

* Alternately, a new revision of the DCT adds panel switch wiring to the back of the screen. This allows for less wiring between the inner door and the panel, and frees up the inputs on the Brain to be used for other purposes.

New Option - Connecting Switches To Screen
EMIT Dynamic Control is a modular solution engineered to meet the wide range of requirements found in air fuel ratio control, engine ignition, compliance monitoring, and compressor protection and control applications. The architecture of the system is based on a single user interface that is capable of operating and managing multiple modules, each with their own primary function. This configuration allows
the system to be highly flexible in the approach necessary to solving issues found in typical and complex applications. Additionally, each module is capable of accepting a range of auxiliary inputs that can be used to further facilitate advanced operations for the most demanding scenarios.

Ordering Information
The system is built around the Dynamic Control Touchscreen, which provides a 12” touchscreen display to present data and interact with any connected modules. Modules are connected to the touchscreen through a high-speed daisy-chain style configuration, and upon detection are automatically made available for operation within the display. The display also acts as the communication hub for the system providing access to datalog downloads through USB, remote data access through Ethernet and RS-485 connections, local WiFi Access, and cellular remote data access.

* Old DCT -> New DCT: OK. The new DCT will work fine in old panels where the switches are wired to the Brain. No settings or other changes are needed, the wiring can be left running to the Brain.

above, and include the following:
*SYSTEM: Main power and communications connector. Input voltage is 12-30v DC and should be fused to 2A
*MODBUS 1,2: Modbus ports for connection to SCADA system (RS-485). Can be configured for different baud rates.
*ECU CAN, CDL, ECU RS-485: Connection options to ECUs (Engine control units)
*ETHERNET: Ethernet port for Modbus/TCP
*USB A: USB Host port for downloading datalogs and other items to a thumb drive
*USB B: Manufacturing use only
*CELL 1,2: Connections for cell phone antenna(s) for remote data collection if activated. Cell 2 is only used in rare cases where signal strength is very low.
*WIFI 1,2: Connections to wifi antenna(s) for local viewing of runtime data on a cell phone
*GPS: Connection to GPS antenna

Settings Changes
NOTE: The back connections should be protected from access in the panel by some tool-required latch.
In general there won't be any settings differences for either case. If the wires are going to the new DCT, the wires will be detected and the DCT pins will be used. If not, the Brain pins will be used. This process is automatic.

Removing old DI23-26
Power
*12 – 30VDC power supply input range
*Typical power consumption: 11W (Low brightness) - 25W (Max brightness)
*Maximum power consumption: 30W

If the digital input setup is showing the speed switches configured on DI23 - DI26, but switches are wired to the screen, then the old inputs can be freed up by going to Brain -> Output Setup -> Speed control output -> hit next / Submit (without changing anything). When you hit 'Submit' the DCT will detect that the new pins are being used instead and will free up DI23-26.
Environmental
*Temperature: -30°C to +85°C (-22°F to 185°F) T4
*Humidity: 5% - 90%, non-condensing

Switch Timeout Alarm
Communication
If the new switch pins on the DCT are in use, then the Brain will expect the switch positions to be always communicated. If the communication times out for more than 60s then an alarm saying "Panel switch information from DCT lost" will be generated and the unit stopped for safety. Since the timeout is 60s, it is ok to power cycle the DCT but it can't be left off very long.
*Controller Area Network (CAN) network for access to additional EMIT modules
*USB host for datalog access and software updates
*RS-485 half-duplex MODBUS RTU (2)
*Ethernet port for Modbus/TCP access
*Wifi Antenna for local wireless access to unit information
*Cell module for remote data collection and callouts
*GPS for location service & accurate time

If this alarm triggers unexpectedly it could be because of a CAN connection issue, so the CAN wires and ferrules should be checked.

Software Version Requirements
In order to use the switch pins on the back of the DCT the versions should be at the following or newer:

* DCT: 1.53.48
Navigation
* Brain: 2331

This configuration allows the system to be highly flexible in the approach necessary to solving issues found in typical and complex applications. Additionally, each module is capable of accepting a range of auxiliary inputs that can be used to further facilitate advanced operations for the most demanding scenarios.
